The cruise started off with a few boats arriving on Thursday and the rest arriving Friday. I arrived Friday afternoon by land and was surprised when I saw Dave Monk pull in completely drenched. I guess it was pretty ruff at sea. He later commented that he probably should have closed his isinglass. As I watched a few other boats arrive I saw that they were a little frazzled as well. Dan Dawes came down from San Pedro for the night. Thank you Dan for making the trip. It was nice to see a long time member but a new face to me.
We had a couple of dogs attend the cruise as well. We welcomed Lacy of Reel Nauti, Penny of Reel Therapy, Sandy of Tailwinds, Chuppie (aka Taco Bender) of Victura, & Sammy of Liquid Therapy. Al the dogs got along nicely and it was fun to see them running up and down the dock having a good time.
Friday night was all about relaxing, eating, drinking and having a good time. We had such an appetizer spread that no one wanted to cook dinner. Thanks everyone for your participation.
Saturday morning was a pot luck breakfast which turned out fantastic. We had all kinds of things to eat.
Late afternoon we went for a dinghy ride around the harbor. A little ruff in some areas and some of us were getting wet but oh well! All in good fun.
Early evening was our dip contest. It was based on taste as well as presentation. We had some great displays. A couple of them that I thought were outstanding was the margarita glass with shrimp made by Teri Bowen and Mike Medina’s Pirate display of chips and salsa. Although all the dips were fantastic we could only choose the top three. Jill Nau took 3rd Place, Kathy Lindstrom took 2nd Place, and The McNamara’s took First Place with an amazing dip (secret recipe) with a side of grilled artichokes.
After all that, we had a great BBQ from Naples Rib Company.
We finished off the evening bombarding KC’s quite evening on his boat with a game of LRC of which Kathy Lindstrom won the pot.
On Sunday we all slowly departed and set out for our home port. If I learned anything from this weekend it was (1) Keep better track of my stuff, (2) Never lay white carpet down for our crew & (3) It’s a toss up as to who had more fun, us or the dogs.
Thank you to everyone who participated at this event!
